Dolphins fantasy Week 8
The Miami Dolphins had one of the worst outings against the Cleveland Browns.
Tua Tagovailoa tossed three interceptions, including a pick-six. Darren Waller finished with zero catches. And the defense let up three touchdowns on the ground.
Luckily, Miami has a chance to bounce back Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. That is, unless star tailback Bijan Robinson decides to break the rushing record against this porous Dolphins defense.
All jokes aside, let’s dive in.
START
Falcons RB Bijan Robinson
The Dolphins can’t stop the run.
It’s not a secret. Everybody knows. And until they figure out that out, teams will continue to attack this defense on the ground.
Unfortunately, Robinson is probably the best tailback that the defense will face. Expect a big day from him.
Dolphins RB De’Von Achane
This man has quite literally been the one of the few bright spots of the Dolphins offense.
The Falcons, meanwhile, have a middling run defense. Miami should be able to take advantage and let Achane loose. If they stack the box, the third-year tailback could still rack up points with receptions. Set and forget it.
SIT
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa
The franchise quarterback currently holds a rather unfortunate title: NFL interceptions leader.
With 10 to his name, Tagovailoa now faces what’s statistically the best passing defense in football. It gets even worse: the Falcons also have the seventh-highest amount of takeaways with nine.
That doesn’t bode well for Tagovailoa, especially with backup tight ends Greg Dulcich and Tanner Conner in line for more snaps due to Darren Waller’s pectoral injury. Best to lefty on the bench.
Dolphins WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
There will certainly be a void with Waller sidelined for at least the next four games.
Out of all the potential receivers, Westbrook-Ikhine likely has the least chance to help out. Simply put, the sixth-year veteran doesn’t have the chemistry with Tagovailoa. Just look at his snap count – – compared to his production (seven catches for 42 yards). Look elsewhere for better options.
WAIT & SEE
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle
Waddle had begun to flourish as wide receiver No. 1.
Then he caught one ball for 15 yards against the Cleveland Browns.
That’s not to say that he can’t have a bounce back game. He’ll just have to do so against the Falcons, the best pass defense in the NFL. And with Waller out, the defense will likely key in on him.
This one is really a toss up as far as I’m concerned.
Falcons WR Drake London
The former University of Southern California standout certainly has the skillset to produce against the Dolphins’ 11th-best passing defense.
He’s big. He’s strong. And he’s fast.
The thing is, the Falcons listed starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. as questionable for Sunday’s game. If Penix plays, London has the potential to go off. If not, the Falcons might just opt to ride Robinson to victory.
