Kirk Cousins will start in place of Michael Penix this weekend for the Atlanta Falcons, in what could serve as an audition for another NFL team ahead of the upcoming trade deadline.
The 37-year-old inked a four-year $180 million deal to sign with the Falcons back in 2024, only to be benched midseason last year for Penix, their 2024 first-round pick. Heading into the 2025 season, Cousins has been Atlanta's backup behind Penix.
However, the Falcons starter has been ruled out of their Sunday game against the Miami Dolphins after suffering a bone bruise in his left knee against the San Francisco 49ers last weekend, meaning Cousins will lead Atlanta.
