Burnley have got their eye on Werder Bremen talent Karim Coulibaly. In fact, they’ve been scouting the 18-year-old closely.
[That’s according to BILD](https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/werder-bremen-scout-spioniert-england-klub-hat-coulibaly-im-visier-68fbf1b559e2e0975070af79), who report that Burnley had the defender under ‘special scrutiny’ on Friday evening.
According to their information, Burnley attended the 1-0 win over Union Berlin. Their scout, Anri Kaca, was in the stands alongside the centre-back’s father and agent Nochi Hamazor.
The Premier League side were keen to get ‘a better understanding of the youngster. He impressed in the game and ‘must have impressed’ the Burnley scout according to the newspaper.
Those in charge at Bremen are already raving about the youngster. “Karim is already very reliable at his age. That’s not a given,” said fellow defender Amos Pieper after the game. Team boss Peter Niemeyer was similarly impressed by his performance.
“He received a yellow card early on but still stood his ground. That felt very good,” he added.
Multiple clubs are keen on the 18-year-old. Alongside Burnley, BILD say top clubs from England, Italy and Portugal are all after the youngster. Bremen, though, have him tied to a deal until 2029. That doesn’t include a release clause.
Burnley and other clubs will need to dig deep into their pockets if they want Coulibaly at any point. Werder don’t want to lose him after beating competition from AC Milan, Benfica and Sevilla for him already.
The decision to join the German side has already paid off. He’s now in the spotlight, with Burnley travelling to Germany on Friday to watch him.
