Falcons QB Kirk Cousins likely to start vs. Dolphins with Michael Penix Jr. (knee) questionable

It appears that Atlanta will be turning to its 37-year-old backup in Week 8.

The Falcons will give Michael Penix Jr. (knee) up until kickoff to see if he can go versus the Miami Dolphins, but it's likely Kirk Cousins will get the start on Sunday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday.

It's a scenario head coach Raheem Morris has prepared for with Penix limited in practice all week, telling reporters Friday that Cousins had taken "significant" reps in practice.

Penix, who was listed as questionable to play in the injury report, suffered a bone bruise in his knee in a Week 7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Cousins would see his first start since Week 15 of the 2024 season.

Around The NFL will have more on this story soon.
