Bills trade rumor from Dianna Russini lists 2 positions Buffalo is looking to address

The Buffalo Bills have several needs they could address at the trade deadline, but two in particular appear to be a focus for general manager Brandon Beane, according to a new rumor on Saturday.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reports that the Bills are looking to add at both safety and wide receiver, which are at the top of the list of the team's needs entering this week's game against the Carolina Panthers.

"The Bills are looking for help at safety and wide receiver," Russini reports.

The Bills' starting safety duo of Cole Bishop and Taylor Rapp has been underwhelming, and now Rapp is on injured reserve with a knee issue.

Damar Hamlin is also on injured reserve, but with a pectoral issue, so Buffalo has depth concerns at safety as well.

At wide receiver, Joshua Palmer is set to miss his second game in a row with knee and ankle problems, and he has been a major disappointment overall.

Adding to that concern, Khalil Shakir's production is down and Keon Coleman hasn't come close to cementing himself as the No. 1 wide receiver Buffalo needs.

Another position Buffalo could look to address that wasn't mentioned by Russini is the defensive line, where the Bills could use a run-stuffer. Buffalo's run defense currently ranks 31st.

T.J. Sanders, DeWayne Carter and DaQuan Jones are all banged up, and Sanders and Carter are on injured reserve, with the latter set to miss the rest of the season.

A major hurdle for the Bills making moves at one or more of those positions is their limited cap space, which sits at just $2.5 million. As a result, we wouldn't expect earth-shattering moves, although Buffalo could certainly use one.
