City’s Under-21s went down to a frustrating 2-0 loss away in east Lancashire on our return to PL 2 action.
Ben Wilkinson’s youngsters carved out plenty of chances and enjoyed the lion’s share of possession – particularly in a dominant second half.
City also saw a superb second half free-kick from Divine Mukasa smack the crossbar and then bounce back from the Rovers goal line.
However, an early first half penalty from Igor Tyjon allied to a 25th minute effort from Brandon Powell ultimately proved decisive.
