Now with his sixth franchise across 18 seasons, Flacco has a chance to save the Bengals.
New Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco has garnered attention for his performance in a win over the Steelers and his every-dad persona: “I used to see guys sitting at a bar by themselves or sitting by themselves eating, and I’m like, ‘Man, I feel so bad for that guy,’” Flacco said. “Now I realize that dude was in heaven.” (Jeff Dean/AP)
On Oct. 8, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher walked to the practice field with no idea what to expect. He had met Joe Flacco, the Bengals’ new quarterback, at 8 p.m. the day before. In a matter of hours, Flacco would step into a huddle of players he had never met and tell them to run plays he barely knew. Maybe it would work. Maybe it would be a debacle.
