'Oh...': Jermain Defoe has now predicted the result of Everton vs Tottenham

Everton welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday and Jermain Defoe is convinced how this game is going to end.

It has been a much brighter start to the campaign for Everton who are able to draw level on points with the north London outfit with a victory.

David Moyes has seen expectations rise from Everton fans in recent weeks after an impressive summer window in the transfer market.

Tottenham come into the game on the back of a midweek trip to face Monaco in the Champions League.

With Everton aiming for European qualification this season, the game on Sunday will provide a good test for the Blues’ credentials.

The Toffees have shown some of the quality they possess in the opening eight games of the term.

Thomas Frank is wary of Everton’s attacking threats and the former Spurs striker, Defoe, has shared his prediction for the game on Merseyside.

Everton are yet to lose in their state-of-the-art new home on the docks, with the Hill Dickinson Stadium becoming somewhat of a fortress.

Speaking on Premier League Productions’ Team Talks, Defoe has shared his concerns for Spurs playing at the new home of the Blues.

“Everton versus Spurs? Oh, a new stadium. Tough place to go. I think a draw. I think 1-1,” said the former Tottenham striker.

Defoe is not alone in predicting a draw, with Paul Merson expecting Everton and Spurs to share the points in a 2-2 draw.

A point against Spurs is not to be sniffed at, but there should be a feeling among those at Everton that they are more than capable of taking all three points.

After all, this was the fixture that kickstarted Moyes’ return to Merseyside last season.

Everton’s record at home to Tottenham offers a lot of hope

Despite the gap between the two sides – barring last season – Everton can actually boast a really impressive record against Spurs on home soil.

Season Competition Result

24/25 Premier League 3-2 (W)

23/24 Premier League 2-2 (D)

22/23 Premier League 1-1 (D)

21/22 Premier League 0-0 (D)

20/21 Premier League 2-2 (D)

20/21 FA Cup 5-4 (W)

19/20 Premier League 1-1 (D)

The Lilywhites have enjoyed playing away from home this season, and that is something that Moyes pointed out in his press conference on Friday.

“It’s a tough game. They’ve got a great away record at the moment, but we’ve also got a pretty good home record,” said the 62-year-old.

Beating one of the so-called big six would mark perhaps the biggest result in the short history of the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
