Bears announce horrible Kyle Gordon update as star cornerback hits injured reserve

The Chicago Bears are 4-2, and looking to continue a four-game winning streak with a huge test against the Baltimore Ravens. Fortunately for the Bears, Lamar Jackson is out, and Tyler Huntley will start in his place at quarterback for the Ravens.

However, it's not all good news for the Bears, as they will be without the majority of their cornerback room on Sunday in Baltimore. The most notable loss is Kyler Gordon, but a day after being ruled out, it got even worse for Gordon and the Bears.

The Bears announced that Gordon, along with offensive lineman Braxton Jones, were both landing on injured reserve, putting both out for at least the next four weeks. It's a horrible update for Gordon after being a late add to the injury report and missing all but two games this season.

Bears announce horrible Kyle Gordon injury update

Gordon lands on injured reserve after playing in just two games for Chicago this season. He suited up for the Bears in Week 6 and Week 7, recording one sack, six tackles, one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery in his limited playing time.

The 25-year-old cornerback has been a solid defender his entire time in Chicago, but this season, he's managed to play in only two games before landing on the injured list.

Gordon will now be out until, at the earliest, Week 12, when the Bears play the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the offseason, Gordon signed a three-year deal worth $40 million and $31.25 million guaranteed.

But, in the first year since signing that deal, he'll have played in just two games in the first 11 weeks of the season, and is at risk of missing even more time beyond the nine weeks he's already going to miss.

Jones, a backup offensive tackle, is also hitting injured reserve in this rough bit of Saturday news ahead of a Week 8 matchup against the Ravens.

With a few other defensive backs injured, including Jaylon Johnson, Tyrique Stevenson, and Terrell Smith, the Bears' secondary will be short-staffed against the Ravens without Jackson at quarterback.

This news is a tough blow for the Bears, as they try to stay alive in a competitive NFC North division with the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers keeping pace for a division title. Gordon will miss the next four weeks at least, with Week 12 the earliest the star cornerback could return.
