Just last weekend the Kansas City Chiefs received a massive boost when star wide receiver Rashee Rice returned to the field, giving star quarterback Patrick Mahomes his No. 1 target back for the first time this season.
In his first game back from a six-game suspension, Rice caught two touchdown passes from Mahomes, who raved about the team’s wide receiver corps.
“It speaks to the room,” the three-time Super Bowl champion said. “We have a lot of talented guys there. So, you never know where it’s going to hit. Obviously, Rashee is going to get a lot of targets and receptions, Xavier (Worthy) same way, and ‘Hollywood’ (Brown). But at the same time, Tyquan [Thornton] can hit a 30-yard completion at any moment, JuJu (Smith-Schuster) can hit a 15-20-yard completion at any moment, Brashard [Smith] can hit a 20-yard completion at any moment. You don’t know where it’s going to come from.”

While Mahomes received a boost from Rice’s return, he’ll be disappointed with the latest injury news from the team as beat reporter Pete Sweeney of the Kansas City Star reported star guard Trey Smith likely won’t be suiting up for Monday night’s game against the Washington Commanders.
Head coach Andy Reid confirmed it’s unlikely Smith will see the field as he deals with back spasms. He’s officially been listed as “doubtful” for the contest.
The team will also be without starting left tackle Josh Simmons, who remains away from the team due to a personal matter. The former Ohio State star is expected to return to the team in the coming weeks.
“There’s communication, and everything is positive,” Reid said of Simmons. “It’s not a negative situation, so he’s taking care of family. He’s just taking care of business. That’s the main thing. When you deal with this, that’s what you do. He’s been very good about communicating.”
