Bryan Mbeumo has revealed "the effort and the togetherness" shown by the Manchester United squad have sparked the upturn in form in recent weeks.

Mbeumo scored twice as United secured a 4-2 victory over Brighton on Saturday night. United were cruising early in the second half as Mbeumo's first goal of the game put them 3-0 up after Matheus Cunha and Casemiro had scored in the first half. However, a Danny Welbeck free-kick and a late Charalampos Kostoulas goal set up a nervy finish to the game.

Mbeumo's second of the contest ensured United would make it three wins on the bounce, and the Cameroon international spoke about the win and his start to life at United after the game.

"I enjoy it a lot here," he said when asked about his first few months at the club. "It hasn't been easy at the start, it's a new environment, new expectation, but with my link-up with my team, everything is going the right way.

"We all put a lot of work in training, that's the most important thing. What we do out there we try to repeat on the pitch. We are going to try to understand each other even better."

Mbeumo was asked if he could pinpoint the difference at United over the last few weeks, having picked up three consecutive wins following a run of just two wins in seven games in all competitions.

"The work we put in, the effort, the togetherness is the key," he explained. "We try to stick to the plan and try to play as best as possible.

"I like the challenges, I came here to a big club and I want to fight for the best places.
