Daniel Farke is not safe from the sack – West Ham are the worst team in the league

Leeds United transfer plan

Leeds United have turned the mood around at Elland Road following their huge victory on Friday night. After the loss to Burnley last week, there were many complaints from the fanbase.

Some went in on the players, especially Brenden Aaronson while others were very critical of the coach Daniel Farke. But the Whites showed out in front of their home crowd and pulled out a very important win. Brenden Aaronson, who was the target of much criticism, was on the scoresheet as well as Joe Rodon, who scored his second goal of the league season.

After the game, Daniel Farke seemed to be pleased with the three points: “First of all, I’m delighted to take the three points. It is difficult to explain how we were standing there after the last three games with one point.

“We had much more domination and controlled the performance. We had a difficult week, in terms of illnesses and injuries.

“It was a difficult week for us. You could feel it. We showed passion and bravery.”

The facts are there; it was a huge win for Leeds that takes the pressure off them. But another fact is that West Ham are the worst team in the league – they have just four points in total this season.

And they are in the same predicament looking at their underlying numbers. Expected goal difference has them as the 2nd worst team in the Premier League. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side cannot score; seven goals in total this season, and they cannot keep out goals either; 20 goals conceded.

They were coming in the absolute worst form they could possibly be ahead of the Leeds game, having failed to get a single win in their last six matches.

Even with their poor form and statistics, the second half was a contest for Leeds and they could have drawn the game if more time was added.

The real test is up ahead

A win against West Ham is nothing to write home about; the real test is the six games coming up for the Whites. Daniel Farke will be up against Brighton, Forest, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

All of these teams are higher up the table than the Whites, and it will be a real test of where they are as a team.
