Manchester United could break the bank and fork out €100 million to sign AC Milan attacking mainstay Rafael Leao.
According to a report from Fichajes, Rafael Leao could be heading to the Premier League as Manchester United are keen on his signature and are considering forking out €100 million to bring the AC Milan star to Old Trafford.
Leao came up the ranks at Sporting CP. Just six months after getting promoted to their first team, he ended up joining LOSC Lille. An impressive season in France resulted in a move to AC Milan back in 2019, and he hasn’t looked back since.
The 26-year-old winger has gone from strength to strength and has established himself as one of their mainstays. The Portuguese international has impressed with his exceptional pace, dribbling ability and goal-scoring prowess.
While he missed the initial games of the season because of a calf injury, Leao has been on fire since returning to full fitness. He has been involved in five games so far and has bagged four goals.
The 26-year-old’s impressive performances have placed him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the world. While multiple top clubs have been linked with him, Manchester United seem to have the most concrete interest in his services.
United could push to sign Leao
The Red Devils forked out a fortune to bolster their attack last summer, but they are still looking to add more quality to complete the revamp. They are considering bringing the Portuguese winger to the Premier League.
The Manchester-based giants believe Leao has all the qualities to help them get back to their glory days. They are considering making an offer worth around €100 million to prise him away from Milan.
His contract at the Italian club runs until the summer of 2028, and the Italian giants are reluctant to lose one of their best players. They won’t let him leave unless there is a massive fee on the table, and United seem to be aware of that.
The Red Devils have reportedly already established contacts. They have formally informed the player’s camp about their interest in the 26-year-old. It will be interesting to see what Leao feels about moving to Old Trafford, as it could go a long way to helping the Manchester-based giants in their pursuit.
