In a startling turn of events for the Dallas Cowboys, one of the league’s premier shutdown cornerbacks has been ruled out for at least the next four games after a mysterious accident at home sent him into concussion protocol. With the team placing him on injured reserve, the impact will be immediate — leaving the defense scrambling and the timing couldn’t be worse.

The Dallas Cowboys confirmed that star cornerback Trevon Diggs is out for a minimum of four games after suffering a concussion following an accident at his residence last Thursday.
Currently in concussion protocol, Diggs did not practice this week and the club moved him to injured reserve, officially starting his absence.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer acknowledged the team has yet to receive full clarity on how the accident occurred and emphasized player health remains the priority. “We’re going to keep all options open,” he said.

Diggs’ absence comes at a crucial juncture. The Cowboys’ secondary, already thin with injuries, will now lean on younger and less-experienced corners. Rookie Trikweze Bridges and second-year defender Caelen Carson are expected to take on expanded roles.
The timing is particularly problematic: Dallas faces a challenging upcoming schedule and cannot afford a drop in pass-defense performance. Analysts note that Diggs’ playmaking ability and experience make him a foundational piece of the defense, and losing him could shift the team’s trajectory in the short term.
While the team remains hopeful for his return, no official timeline beyond the four-game minimum has been confirmed. For now, the focus is on recovery and reshuffling the depth chart to maintain competitiveness in the division.
