Former NFL wide receiver Greg Jennings had a pro career that most players could only dream about.
He played 10 seasons, made two Pro Bowls, and won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers. However, for most NFL fans, Jennings isn’t remembered for his play on the field.
Instead, he’s remembered as the subject of perhaps the greatest NFL meme of all time.
In 2010, YouTuber Demetry James uploaded a video of him playing as the Packers on the Madden video game. In the video, Jennings catches a pass and, despite suffering a broken leg earlier in the game, outruns the New Orleans Saints defense, led by Darren Sharper, for a 99-yard touchdown.
“I have one of the most bestest offenses in Madden history, look at this s—,” James said over the video. “This prolly the last play of the game. Greg Jennings catches that s—, but earlier though, this n—- broke his f—in leg. How’s this n—- running with a broken leg? Look at him holding the s— though. He put the team on his back.
“Dawg, let’s go inside the mind of a Greg Jennings. ‘I gotta do this s—. I put the team on my f—in back though. My leg broke. But I gotta do this s—.. for Madden… OH S—! DARREN SHARPER. One of the most hardest hittin’ safeties IN THE LEAGUE. I put the team on my back though. f— it. Cross the plane… TOOOUCHDOOOWN!!!”
NC State Wide Receiver Justin Joly Recreates Greg Jennings Meme
On Saturday, despite a 53-34 loss to ACC foe Pitt, North Carolina State tight end Justin Joly did his best imitation of the Greg Jennings play.

In the second quarter the Wolfpack ran a trick play where quarterback CJ Bailey threw the ball backward to wide receiver Teddy Hoffman. Hoffman then threw the ball downfield and hit Joly for a 59-yard touchdown.
However, that wasn’t the highlight. What made it great was the fact that Joly suffered a leg injury in the middle of the play. But he fought through it, fighting his way to the end zone.
Shoutout Justin Joly. You put the team on your back.
