Mateusz Klich reunites with former Leeds United teammate as nod to Marcelo Bielsa spotted

Mateusz Klich is a cult hero at Leeds.

The Poland international witnessed it all at Elland Road across his 195 appearances for the Whites, initially struggling while Thomas Christiansen was in charge before becoming a hero under Marcelo Bielsa.

Mateusz Klich is now playing for Cracovia in Poland – where he was reacquainted with his old Leeds teammate Sam Greenwood during an Ekstraklasa clash on Saturday.

Mateusz Klich meets Sam Greenwood once again

The Pole made 12 appearances with Greenwood during his time in Yorkshire, and the pair reunited as Cracovia took on Pogon Szczecin.

It was the England U21 international who got one over on Klich, helping his side record a 2-1 win in the Ekstraklasa clash on Saturday while playing the full 90 minutes.

Klich – who Joe Rodon has now overtaken in the record books – was withdrawn in the 73rd minute, watching from the bench as Cracovia conceded an 89th minute goal to throw away a point.

Pogon Szczecin actually fought from behind to win, with Greenwood assisting Kamil Grosicki for the equaliser in the 61st minute.

This Ekstraklasa encounter was actually screened by Canal+ on Saturday – and Cracovia boss Luka Elsner could be seen doing something that surely brings back fond memories for Klich.

As you can see in the post above, the Slovenian likes to adopt the same touchline squat that Leeds fans became accustomed to during the memorable time under Bielsa – who Daniel Farke is emulating this season.

Klich amassed 157 appearances under the influential Argentine while at Leeds – 122 more than he made for any other manager – scoring 22 goals and providing 21 assists, so he was almost a father figure of sorts.

Therefore, despite being miles away from both Leeds and Bielsa – who is currently in charge of Uruguay – Klich still has a nice reminder of his successful time at Elland Road thanks to his current boss.
