Keith Andrews believes his Brentford side were rewarded for their fearlessness against Premier League champions Liverpool. The Bees consigned the Reds to a fourth successive top-flight defeat for the first time since February 2021 with a deserved 3-2 success at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday evening.
Dango Ouattara, Kevin Schade and an Igor Thiago penalty found the target for Brentford, with Liverpool responding with goals from Milos Kerkez and Mohamed Salah at the end of each half.
Brentford have now beaten the Reds and Manchester United at home while drawing with Chelsea.

And Andrews said: “Was it about fearlessness? Probably. But it takes a lot more than that clearly, structure and desire and resilience and character.
“When they get the goal just before half-time and what that can do for a team, it’s two games in a row that’s happened and the message was to take the game to them second half.
“That was the key for me. You could feed their confidence if you take a step back, and we didn’t allow that.
“The team is growing and the relationships in the group have been important going forward.
“The result was one that I think we deserved. I didn’t feel I could change the team after Monday night (winning at West Ham). We were excellent in that system.”
After a slow start to the season, Brentford are now just two points behind a Liverpool side which has already lost as many Premier League games – four – as in the whole of last season.
And Andrews added: “I’m delighted with how things are going. It was a slow burner at the start of the season understandably, but I could see the evolution of the group on a daily basis.
“We’ve just beaten the Premier League champions so this result ranks pretty highly.
“We dealt with what Liverpool were trying to do by problem-solving on the pitch.
“It’s a big result for the football club but it could be a big result about it being the nature of our development.”
