Player ratings: How did Albion players perform at Old Trafford?

[Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au) had to be at their best to halt the United resurgence – and they weren’t.

There some decent individual displays at Old Trafford but more which fell short of where they needed to be.

**Bart Verbruggen 7/10**

Had a better game than the four-goal tally suggests. Was possibly outwitted by Mbeumo on the third but otherwise given no chance and made three good saves:

**Mats Wieffer 6/10**

Not a bad game in that right-back role also taking him into midfield or forward.

**Jan Paul van Hecke 5/10**

An unhappy afternoon, especially in terms of his use of the ball. United seemed ready to pick off his passes at times

**Lewis Dunk 5/10**

Some moments of poise and control but others when he was caused problems by United’s attacking quality.

**Max De Cuyper 6/10**

Got just enough on the ball to avoid a penalty for Amad but was caused a few difficulties on his flank and gave no more then hints at what he could do going forward.

**Yasin Ayari 5/10**

Albion’s evening in a nutshell. Started the game quite well, looking confident, passing from deep and getting forward. But his use of the ball had become, at best, unreliable by the time he went off.

**Carlos Baleba 4.5/10**

A difficult afternoon in the spotlight. Seemed hesitant in possession at times, unsure in his intentions and wayward with two shots. Will this be enough to quieten the noise?

**Yankuba Minteh 6/10**

Had time on both wings and looked the most likely to make something happen for Albion but his end product was too often lacking. But he certainly troubled the home defence.

**Georginio Rutter 5.5/10**

Did his best work ahead of the early Welbeck shot. No shortage of effort but there is a fine line between committing defenders and trying to do too much.

**Ferdi Kadioglu 6/10**

Was not a big threat in his role further forward but his energy is good to see. Was lively in the late rally and tested the keeper.

**Danny Welbeck 7/10**

His seventh goal against United was a free-kick which did not need to be right in the corner as it was hit with such whip and curl and he did some good work in general play.

**SUBS - Tommy Watson 7/10**

Got his Prem debut at last and took his chance quite well, notably with the pass to send Minteh through.

**James Milner 7/10**

Made a difference, underpinned the late rally and set up Kostoulas. The debate now will be when does he next start?

**Diego Gomez 6/10**

Added some energy and presence.

**Charalampos Kostoulas N/A**

Had already threatened when he headed home. He is getting there.

**Stefanos Tzimas N/A**

A late addition to the attacking force.
