Bournemouth have been absolutely outstanding in the 2025/26 Premier League season so far. After they stumbled out of the starting blocks in their opening game against Liverpool, the Cherries have been on a tear ever since.
As things stand, Bournemouth not lost since their game against Liverpool, winning four and drawing three. They have played against some strong teams during this run also, such as Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.
But can they maintain this run of form throughout the campaign? Today, we’ll examine this question and see if the Cherries can land a spot in European places at the end of the season.
Bournemouth key stats
With 14 goals this season, Bournemouth are one of the highest-scoring teams in the Premier League this season – they have outscored every team outside of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City. Liverpool, meanwhile, are on par with the Cherries in terms of goals scored.
At the other end, however, their defensive record has not been quite as impressive. Bournemouth have let 11 goals in so far this season, keeping three clean sheets along the way. There is certainly no cause for alarm here, but there is room for improvement.
Perhaps Bournemouth’s greatest attriubute is their ability to take chances. They have exceeded their expected goals by +3.6 xG this season – only Tottenham can boast a greater return.
However, it does highlight how comparatively average their ability to create chances is, in comparison to the rest of the divsion. If the Cherries begin to show profligacy in front of goal or lose their shooting confidence, their fortunes could turn very quickly.
Bournemouth’s key players in 2025/26
Out of all of Bournemouth’s players, one stands out clearly above the rest – Antoine Semenyo. A fast, powerful runner with excellent dribbling ability and underrated intelligence on the ball, he is one of the most effective attacking players in the Premier League at the moment.
Semenyo has nine goal contributions to his name so far – giving him at least triple the amount that any other player has at the club. Without him spearheading their attack, it could be difficult to see where Bournemouth’s goals will come from.
However, Semenyo isn’t the only notable talent at Bournemouth currently. 19 year old Eli Junior Kroupi has been impressive, scoring three goals in five appearances (four of which were from the bench).
Will Andoni Iraola stay at Bournemouth?
Of course, head coach Andoni Iraola has been instrumental in Bournemouth’s rise to the upper echelons of the Premier League. Being such a talented manager, he has been linked with high-profile jobs elsewhere, but has repeatedly stated his commitment to the job at Bournemouth.
With Tottenham, Manchester United and Real Madrid having courted him in the past, Iraola’s head will most likely be turned at some point – but it’s unlikely that he’ll leave Bournemouth any time soon.
Can Bournemouth land a spot in the top seven this season?
Going by their excellent start to the season, Bournemouth look to be in excellent stead to be playing European football this season. Despite this, as we have mentioned, it may only take a couple of cogs to slip for the whole Cherries machine to begin faltering.
Keeping Iraola and Semenyo will be key to their success. Every transfer window will be tainted with dread from now on for Bournemouth fans – they should demand as much money as they can get for their star men.
