Ruben Amorim has been in the Manchester United job for almost a full year now, but the Brighton game threw him a curveball, which gave him a feeling he’s felt for the first time at the club.
A lot of “firsts” have been felt by Ruben Amorim at Man Utd in the last three weeks, and, fortunately, they have been of the good kind.
From winning consecutive Premier League games for the first time, to beating Liverpool at Anfield, or breaking the Brighton curse at Old Trafford, many weights have been lifted.

However, despite the beauty of Man Utd scoring four times against Brighton, Amorim’s mind shifted to a feeling he experienced for the first time during the game.

Ruben Amorim makes Man Utd admission
The Man Utd manager has been eager to make Old Trafford a formidable fortress from the moment he walked into the job.
For any club, dominating at home should be a non-negotiable, which is why the home losses last season, and starting with a loss at home this season, were such blows.
Old Trafford was becoming a place that loaded the players with expectations, rather than a raucous support they could channel into greatness.
However, things clicked against Brighton, and Amorim felt a new feeling after the third goal went in.

He said after the game: “After the third goal, the noise of the stadium was not normal. It was like a different moment. It was the first time I felt that sound, that environment, so it was a good moment for me.”
Man Utd fans are starved of success
If Amorim was surprised by that level of noise in the stadium, then he’d better get used to being surprised weekly if the team keeps up that level of form.
The reality is that United have always had one of the most raucous followings in world football, let alone in England.
But it’s also a fanbase that hasn’t been given much to shout about in the last few years, at least consistently.
As a result, there is a lot of pent-up relief and joy that comes out when the players look like they actually care and are putting in their maximum effort.
There aren’t many things more beautiful than an Old Trafford crowd that has sensed blood in the opposition, as they can single-handedly drive United players to pummel the opposition by transforming themselves into a cauldron of passion.
Now that they finally have players who treat that pressure as a privilege, a marriage made in heaven might just have gotten its first dose against Brighton.
Long may it continue!
