Brett Favre knows exactly what Aaron Rodgers is feeling heading into his much-anticipated return to face the Green Bay Packers. The Hall of Famer, who went through a nearly identical exit from Green Bay in 2008, believes Rodgers is carrying more than just competitive fire into Sunday night’s showdown.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, Favre said he’s confident the four-time MVP will “want to play the best game he’s ever played” against his former team. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback will face Green Bay for the first time since being traded in 2023.
Rodgers is in his 21st NFL season and hasn’t committed to whether this will be his final year. Emotions will be running high as the matchup certainly holds meaning for Rodgers.
“He certainly doesn’t want to lay an egg on maybe his last game against the Packers,” Favre said.
Favre dismissed any notion of “revenge,” but believes that the stakes will feel different for the Steelers QB. Rodgers played 18 seasons in Green Bay. He has one Super Bowl and four MVP awards to his name.

“I was there for 18 years,” Rodgers told reporters. “Regardless of when I hang it up, that’s the bulk of my career. I’ll retire a Packer and see what happens after that.”

Speculation of bad blood with the Packers was high ever since Rodgers left Green Bay, but he insists that there’s no revenge factor going into Sunday’s game.
“I don’t have any animosity toward the organization,” Rodgers said via ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. “Obviously, I wish things had been better in our last year there, but I have a great relationship with a lot of people still in that organization, and this is not a revenge game for me. I’m just excited to see some of the guys and be on ‘Sunday Night Football’ again.”
