Ranked – Top 3 Everton Goals V Spurs

Ahead of Everton’s Premier League game versus Spurs today, we look at three memorable goals against the London club.

3 – Michael Keane, Everton 1-1 Spurs. April 2023

A centre-half scoring a 25 yard worldie in the 90th minute to salvage a point. I vividly remember standing in the Lower Gwladys watching Keane line up to take this shot. I got half way through shouting, “Don’t f*****g shoot!” before Big Mick burst the net.

Absolutely fair play. I’m always happy to eat my words. It reminds me of a game around 15 years ago. Phil Neville took a flurry of poorly executed long throws. Lining up to take another, my dad shouted some expletive-laden advice his way. Naturally, we scored.

The context of Keane’s goal is key, as well as the quality of the effort. The point lifted the Blues out of the bottom three, up to the lofty heights of 15th. When you’re in a relegation scrap at the business end of the season, every point counts.

2 – Iliman Ndiaye, Everton 3-2 Spurs. January 2025

One of the great individual performances in the men’s last season at Goodison Park. Ndiaye was electric that day and his stunning solo goal alone was worth the price of a ticket.

It was a cathartic game for many, with Moyes returning to steady the ship and Everton turning on the style. Ndiaye turned Radu Dragusin inside out before firing the ball into the roof of the net. A special goal from a special player.

The Toffees were three goals up by the interval at this one, and still sent nerves rattling around Goodison. Two late Spurs strikes, including a 92nd minute Richarlison effort, made for an anxious finale. Thankfully we held on, and then I went to The Cavern to watch Shaun Ryder. Pills ‘n’ thrills and Iliman Ndiaye.

1 – Nikica Jelavic, Everton 2-1 Spurs. December 2012

One of the great Goodison Park stoppage times. The Blues were 1-0 down on 90 minutes and came away with all three points. Moyes had been heavily linked with the Spurs job the previous year, so this one had a grudge match feel.

A Steven Pienaar equaliser on his return to the club from Spurs was sweet enough. A Jelavic winner two minutes later brought the house down. A poorly executed Apostolos Vellios overhead kick fell kindly for the Croatian, who finished instinctively.

The victory extended the club’s unbeaten home run to 12 games, and put us in a Champions League spot, leapfrogging Spurs.
