Manchester City vs. Aston Villa: The matchup
Man City has looked the part of a dominant force since the club lost two of its first three matches of the season to Tottenham Hotspur (2-0) and Brighton & Hove Albion (2-1) with a 5-1-0 over its past six matches. City is also rolling into Sunday on a run of three straight shutout performances, the most recent of which came over Villareal (2-0) in Champions League play. Forward Erling Haaland has accounted for a huge majority of City’s scoring this season with a Premier League-best 11 tallies in eight matches.
Aston Villa has also begun to find its stride after a bumpy start to the Premier League season, but is still caught in the lower-middle of the pack with a 3-3-2 overall record and 12 points. Villa has won three straight Premier League matches and hasn’t lost since losing back-to-back matches to Brentford (1-0) and Crystal Palace (3-0) on Aug. 23 and 31, respectively.
