Will Puka Nacua be back after the bye? Latest Week 9 injury update for Rams WR

For the first time this season, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua did not suit up for a game in Week 7.

Nacua was ruled out due to an ankle sprain he suffered in Week 6 after not practicing at all during the week, but thankfully it appears he has avoided a serious injury.

"We'll be day-to-day with him," Rams head coach McVay said on Monday. "Initially, he felt pretty good today, but we'll just see how the week progresses."

The Rams are on a bye in Week 8, so Nacua has an extra week to rest up without the threat of missing another game.

But will that be enough for him to return in Week 9? Here's what we know.

Will Puka Nacua return in Week 9?

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that McVay is "optimistic" about Nacua returning to action in Week 9 versus the New Orleans Saints, so his chances of coming back after a one-game absence appear to be good.

The Rams will likely provide an update on Nacua on Monday, when McVay addresses reporters. We'll get yet another update on Wednesday, when Los Angeles releases its first injury report of the week.

If Nacua is forced to sit out another game, Davante Adams will once again serve as the Rams' No. 1 wide receiver. In Week 7, Adams only tallied 35 yards with Nacua sidelined, but he also scored three times.

Jordan Whittington and Tutu Atwell were expected to get a boost with Nacua out for that game, but Atwell wasn't targeted at all and Whittington only recorded two receptions for nine yards. Neither one is a viable starter in fantasy football.
