Report: Rumors Grow Aaron Rodgers Won’t Be One-and-Done with Steelers

Rumors continue to swirl that the marriage between Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers is not going to end this season.

Pittsburgh has been better than many NFL experts predicted before the 2025 NFL season. If not for a surprising Week 7 loss to Joe Flacco and the Cincinnati Bengals, the Steelers would own a commanding 5-1 first-place record in the AFC North.

And surprisingly, their 42-year-old QB is a major reason for the good start. That is why, despite only having him signed for this season, rumblings continue to grow that the team really wants a second season of the “Aaron Rodgers experience.”

Aaron Rodgers stats: 1,270 passing yards, 14 TDs, 5 INTs, 68.6 completion percentage, 105.0 rating

“Aaron Rodgers has said very publicly that this could be his last season or likely his last season. We’ll see if he sticks with that, because my understanding is the Steelers have really, really enjoyed the Aaron Rodgers experience,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport claims.

“Coaches, executives, players, and he’s bonded with several young players in the locker room. I would not be surprised if they want him back for another year despite signing him to a one-year deal. Until Rodgers says he is for sure retiring, we will continue to wonder.”

Aaron Rodgers and Steelers’ offense were expected to be the weak link in 2025

The assumption by many NFL analysts was that a very well-aged QB and the offense would be the weak link this season. Especially after he looked like a shell of himself in New York last year in his first season back from an Achilles tear. However, he has played well, and the Steelers’ defense has let them down this season. Not living up to expectations from previous seasons.

Rapoport’s report comes a day after The Athletic’s Dianna Russini said her sources claimed they would love to have the future first-ballot Hall of Famer back on the team next season. It will be interesting to see if Steelers decision-makers still feel the same way if the team slumps in the second half and doesn’t make the playoffs.
