Aston Villa’s Emi Buendía was forced off through injury during the match against Manchester City.
The playmaker appeared to suffer an injury to his right foot as he hobbled off the pitch and down the tunnel with assistance from the medical staff.
It remains unclear how Buendía picked up the issue, but he had been moving freely before going to ground following a tussle with Matheus Nunes.
Buendía had been enjoying a fine start to the game and played a total of 27 minutes before deciding to sit on the pitch and await medical attention.
He assisted Matty Cash’s opening goal, which came from a corner routine. After a quick one-two, Buendía pinged the ball to the right-back, who took a touch inside the box and fired past Gianluigi Donnarumma to hand Villa the lead against City
Jadon Sancho replaced Buendia, making his fifth appearance for the club.
Harvey Elliott, who is currently on loan from Liverpool, was not named in Villa's squad to face City today.
