The Green Bay Packers have a pair of wide receivers questionable to play in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, with both Matthew Golden and Christian Watson drawing the tag.
Golden was a late addition to the injury report this week with a hip issue and draws a questionable tag after a limited session on Friday. Of course, Golden being a late-week addition to the injury report is not a good sign for him.
As for Watson, he was designated to return from the physically unable to perform list on Oct. 6 after working his way back from a torn ACL suffered last season, but he hasn't been able to suit up in a game since then.
While both are listed as questionable for Sunday, the expectation is both will play. Here's how we know that.
Is Matthew Golden playing tonight?
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Golden is expected to suit up on Sunday night against the Steelers.
"Packers WR Matthew Golden, listed as questionable with a hip injury, is expected to play today," Rapoport reported on Sunday morning.
Is Christian Watson playing today?
Watson, who was activated from the PUP list on Saturday, is expected to play, also, per Rapoport.
"(Matthew Golden will) join Christian Watson, who was activated Saturday from PUP and will play," Rapoport wrote on X.
Matthew Golden start or sit advice
While we love the potential Golden has shown, he simply isn't a viable starter in fantasy football right now.
Golden has averaged 7.9 fantasy points per game over six contests, which ranks as WR62 overall this season. Making matters worse, he draws a matchup against a Steelers defense ceding the 10th-fewest fantasy points per game to wideouts.
Outside of the most desperate situations, Golden shouldn't be in starting lineups in Week 8.
Verdict: Sit
Christian Watson start or sit advice
While Watson could have fantasy relevance this season, he's best left on the bench this week.
After all, this is his first game back from a torn ACL and Watson hasn't played a snap since Week 18 of last season. There's a good chance he'll be limited in his 2025 debut, but even if that isn't the case, he might not be himself right away, which is typical for players coming back from such an injury.
Adding to that, the Steelers are giving up the 10th-fewest fantasy points per contest to the position, which only makes us want to steer clear of starting Watson even more.
Verdict: Sit
