The Atlanta Falcons are in the midst of a quarterback controversy. Michael Penix Jr. has struggled with inconsistencies through the first six games and recently suffered a bone bruise in his left knee against the San Francisco 49ers. Penix Jr. was limited during practice, prompting the Falcons to list him as questionable against the Miami Dolphins.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Falcons have downgraded Michael Penix Jr. from questionable to out on Saturday night. As a result, Kirk Cousins will start against the Miami Dolphins. After being benched for the final four games of 2024 and not competing for the starting job to start 2025, Cousins has a chance to regain his old starting spot over the former first-round pick.

If it was a playoff game on Sunday, he might be out there.

The Falcons elevated Easton Stick from the practice squad for gameday for the first time this season. The former Los Angeles Chargers’ fifth-round pick joined the team in the offseason but did not survive roster cuts. However, Stick later joined their practice squad, where he has been for the first eight weeks of the season.
