Matheus Cunha sent a classy message to Bruno Fernandes after the Manchester United captain made his 300th appearances for the club against Brighton on Saturday.
Fernandes, who joined United in a £47million plus add-ons deal from Sporting CP in February 2020, has become a real cult hero and reliable figure since his move to Old Trafford. Indeed, the Portuguese has scored 100 times and provided 87 assists for the Reds, winning two major trophies.
He marked his 300th game for United against Brighton and helped his side to a 4-2 win. The 31-year-old produced a captain's performance and controlled the middle of the park as the Reds recorded a third straight win.
After Fernandes reflected on that landmark on Instagram, Cunha sent a message to his United team-mate. "Celebrating 300th in the best way [raising hands emoji]," Fernandes said, along with several images from the game.
Cunha, meanwhile, responded and said on his Instagram story: "300 capi," alongside two clapping emojis.
Bryan Mbeumo, Ayden Heaven, Amad Diallo, Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt were among the United players to leave a comment on Fernandes' post, as he reacted to making his 300th United appearance.
As for the game itself, Cunha and Casemiro put United 2-0 ahead in the first half before Mbeumo gave the Reds a three-goal cushion just after the hour mark. Danny Welbeck and Charalampos Kostoulas gave United a scare towards the end, but Mbeumo scored his second and the Reds' fourth to wrap up the win.
Reflecting on his side's win against Brighton, Amorim said post-match: "I feel good. I think we played well but we suffered in the end, a little bit, our fault in the way we conceded the first goal.
"You can sense that, in that time of the game, we are near the fourth goal, not to suffer one. But they did everything. They run, they play with the ball, they kept the ball when it was needed. So it was a good game."
"You have the game under control and then you suffer a goal," Amorim added. "And then we suffer a little bit. They have a lot of talent. They have a lot of quality with the ball and they control that and they use that momentum to control the game. But we are improving in the way we respond to bad moments, and today, we did it again.
"We respond a little bit better and that's really important. We know how to suffer. If we suffer together, it's so much easier to win games."
