The Boston Celtics' 2025-26 campaign has gotten off to a rocky start, to say the least.
Following their opening-night 117-116 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers at home Wednesday, the team failed to get back in the win column against the mighty New York Knicks on Friday night, losing 105-95.
Now, the club might be without their 2024 NBA Finals MVP and 4-time All-Star Jaylen Brown as they prepare to do battle against 2025 All-Star Cade Cunningham and the quickly rising Detroit Pistons.
According to a recent update from the Celtics, Brown's status for the contest against Cunningham, Jaden Ivey and Ausar Thompson remains up in the air as he recovers from a left hamstring strain.
The 29-year-old wing was deemed questionable by the team Sunday morning, and his presence would surely be missed against an up-and-coming Eastern Conference contender and likely future MVP candidate early in the season.
Through his first two contests of the new year, Brown has averaged 24.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists while knocking down 45.5% of his 5.5 looks from three-point range in 36 minutes of work.
If the Celtics wish to nab their first win of the 2025-26 season, they'll have to hope that Brown is fit to remain in the rotation. As of now, that determination has not yet been made.
