Cam Skattebo has proven, time and again, that he is the future of the New York Giants' backfield.
That took a depressing turn on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles when Skattebo went down with a nasty foot injury.
The cart had to come out to get Skattebo. The Giants were clearly distraught.
He was carted off with his right ankle in an air cast, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
"Players don't even want to look," wrote ESPN's Jordan Raanan on X.
SNY's Connor Hughes added this: "Jaxson Dart was screaming after he turned around and saw Cam Skattebo's foot. The cart is out. A ton of #Giants players turned around after they saw the injury. This is about as gruesome as it gets."

At 2-5 entering the day, this is likely a lost season for the Giants.
But they had found hope in the form of Skattebo and QB Jaxson Dart. The future is bright.
On this day, though, the clouds came out.
Skattebo went down with an injury no one would ever wish on anyone.
Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary will take over in the backfield without Skattebo.
But all anyone will want is to see Skattebo heal up and be OK down the road.
For a while, he'll certainly be out.
The Giants just still hope he can be the RB of the future.
