Barcelona's Marcus Rashford sends Man Utd message after El Clasico moment vs Real Madrid

Marcus Rashford has been in fine form for Barcelona, and his assist against Real Madrid in El Clasico on Sunday should serve as a stark message to Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim

Marcus Rashford's latest impact for Barcelona against Real Madrid on Sunday should serve as a stark reminder to Ruben Amorim of the talent he's missing at Manchester United. The homegrown Red Devils star made the move to Catalonia on a season-long loan this summer, after finding himself sidelined at Old Trafford following Amorim's appointment last November.

Rashford was left out of the Portuguese manager's plans and spent the latter part of last season on loan at Aston Villa as a result. Upon his return from the Midlands, and still not in Amorim's plans, the 27-year-old was eager to secure another move away from United - be it temporary or permanent.

His wish was fulfilled when Barcelona swooped in to secure him on a year-long loan with an option to buy, and it's fair to say that Rashford has flourished with the Catalan giants since.

The striker has already netted five goals in 12 appearances across all competitions, and chalked up his seventh assist of the season against Real Madrid in El Clasico on Sunday afternoon.

Trailing by a goal due to Kylian Mbappe's early effort, Alejandro Balde collected the ball on the edge of Madrid's box 38 minutes in before breaking through the backline to find Rashford.

The Englishman, showing great sportsmanship, passed the ball to Fermin Lopez who blasted it past a helpless Thibaut Courtois.

Barcelona's lead was short-lived as Jude Bellingham equalised just before half-time, resulting in a 2-1 victory for the home side.

Rashford's impressive performance this season should serve as a wake-up call to Amorim that he may have let one of United's brightest stars slip away early in his tenure.

Although Rashford is only on loan at Barcelona until the end of the season, the club has an option to buy him for around £30million, reports the Manchester Evening News.

This could be a bargain for Barca if they decide to take up the option, especially considering Rashford's market value is likely to increase if he continues to shine in La Liga and the Champions League.

Despite missing one of their most gifted academy graduates, Manchester United are faring well. The club are currently on a three-match winning streak, thanks to victories over Sunderland, Liverpool and, most recently, Brighton.

United were back in Premier League action on Saturday evening, beating the Seagulls 4-2 at home with goals from Matheus Cunha and Casemiro, and a double from Bryan Mbeumo offsetting strikes from Danny Welbeck and Charalampos Kostoulas.
