Everton suffer first defeat at Hill Dickinson Stadium as ruthless Spurs extend superb away run

Everton suffered their first defeat at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, losing 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

The Toffees should have drawn the first blood inside three minutes but Jack Grealish’s goalbound effort was blocked by Pedro Porro.

Spurs would go on to take the lead in the 19th minute through a well-worked corner kick which was converted by defender Micky van de Ven.

Jake O’Brien thought he had drawn level for Everton in the 24th minute with a thumping header from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s corner but his effort was ruled offside.

Rodrigo Bentancur missed a chance to give Spurs a two-goal cushion, firing a shot wide of the left post.

Deep into first half stoppage-time, Van de Ven made it 2-0 with a glancing header from Porro’s in-swinging corner.

Five minutes after the restart, goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario made a superb stop to prevent Beto’s overhead kick from pulling one back for the hosts.

Richarlison squandered a big opportunity to add to Spurs’ lead in the 64th minute, firing his effort straight at Pickford in a one-on-one situation.

Vicario made another superb stop to prevent Iliman Ndiaye’s deflected shot from finding the bottom-left corner.

Substitute Pape Matar Sarr sealed the victory for Tottenham with a precise header just before the stroke of full-time.

The result means Tottenham have picked 13 points from five away league games this season – the best record in the Premier League.
