It took seven games, but Broncos players finally absorbed fines for on-field actions this season.
Linebacker Justin Strnad and cornerback Riley Moss were each docked by the NFL after last week’s 33-32 win over the New York Giants.
Strnad received a $15,486 fine for an unsportsmanlike act stemming from contact with referee Brad Allen in the celebratory hubbub following Wil Lutz’s game-winning field goal, while Moss took an $8,253 fine for a face-mask infraction in the third quarter.
The fine for Moss was fairly clear-cut, coming via an on-field penalty that was called by Allen’s officiating crew.
It wasn’t the same for Strnad’s situation. He and a slew of Broncos players poured onto the field after Lutz’s kick, with Allen remaining in position to signal that the kick was good.
Something caught my eye from Lutz's game-winning kick yesterday:
After the play, Dre Greenlaw runs after the ref, yelling at him, and the ref actually throws a flag.
It was after the play, and the game was over, so idk what happens.
Just a fine for Greenlaw? Something more? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/LqFTfPV0vV

Strnad appeared to inadvertently collide with Allen, who then shoved the linebacker away in the tumult. Seconds later, linebacker Dre Greenlaw yelled at Allen, an incident which led to the one-game suspension that Greenlaw will serve Sunday.
Video from KCNC-Ch. 4 captured the moment.
“Really just remember going to celebrate with the team after obviously a huge moment, a game-winning field goal, and then obviously that stuff kind of happened so fast,” Strnad said. “I didn’t even really honestly think about it right after the game and things like that, but then obviously with everything going on, it kind of became a big story.”
“… It was kind of a mosh pit of people,” he continued. “Unfortunately, that stuff happened.”
The Broncos face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
