Aaron Glenn praises Justin Fields in first Jets' victory of season

The New York Jets are winless no more.

After starting the season 0-7, the Jets picked up their first win under head coach Aaron Glenn after beating the Cincinnati Bengals 39-38.

After the game, Glenn had nothing but praise for quarterback Justin Fields, who had a tough week following disparaging comments from owner Woody Johnson.

In his post-game press conference, Glenn took the opportunity to lift his quarterback after a couple of rough outings.

"He's the perfect person to be able to handle everything that's been thrown at him," said Glenn.

"Who he is as a person, his faith, and the way he goes about his business — he was primed to be able to handle situations like this. It’s so unfair to him that he gets criticized so much."

In all fairness, the criticism surrounding Fields and the Jets' offense had been warranted.

Before today, New York hadn't scored a first-half touchdown since Week 1, and Fields hadn't thrown for more than 100 yards since Week 5.

Against the Bengals' lowly defense, the former Ohio State star was able to complete 21 of 32 passes for 244 yards and one touchdown, chipping in 31 yards on the ground.

It's safe to say the Jets were able to exorcise some demons today in Cincinnati, and it could be the spark they were looking for to get the season moving in the right direction.
