Bills' win over Panthers shows offense must go through 2 stars

The Buffalo Bills' 40-9 win over the Carolina Panthers might have just given offensive coordinator Joe Brady the ideal game plan going forward.

With the defense getting after Andy Dalton, all eyes were on the offense, and it was James Cook with his 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns, along with Khalil Shakir, who posted 88 yards and a touchdown from his six receptions, who did the most damage.

And for quarterback Josh Allen, the plan moving forward is rather simple - get the ball into Cook and Shakir's hands.

“I think if you look at the efficiency he’s had, he’s playing outstanding, the more times we get the ball in his hands, the better we’re going to be," Allen said. "The same with Khalil [Shakir], just again, getting the ball in his hands, make some plays for us. I love handing it off and getting to throw up hands up from 50 yards out.”

Bills steady the ship vs. Carolina

With Cook running riot on the ground, and Shakir Allen's best weapon, the Bills in two quarters, piled on 37 points against the Panthers.

We know how dominant the offensive line is when Cook is rolling like he was at Bank of America Stadium, and Shakir, he has been Allen's go-to guy for the past two seasons, and when both combine as they did against the Panthers, good things usually happen.

So, after some stormy seas over the past two weeks, the Bills appear to have steadied the ship, and yes, the first half wasn't great, but the second half, Buffalo appeared to smooth out its offensive operation, and we saw them blow away Carolina.

At 5-3, the Bills are in good shape, and the plan going forward seems rather simple -- get Shakir and Cook the ball.
