The New York Jets entered Sunday at 0-7.
They exited the day with their first win, thanks in large part to two brilliantly gutsy 2-point conversion decisions by head coach Aaron Glenn and his coaching staff.
They're the types of decision that earn you endless ridicule if they don't work. But they were done for good reasons, and the football gods rewarded the Jets.
The first came with 14:17 left in the game. Breece Hall ran in a 5-yard touchdown that pulled the Jets within 31-22 before the point after.
The Jets went for 2 while down 9.
The logic there: If you kick the extra point, you've got to get a 2 later when trailing by 8. By going for 2 then, you know whether you'll need an extra score, or you'll be within 7.
Fields ran around a while before making it into the end zone himself for the 2 and a 31-24 deficit.

The Bengals went up 38-24 on a Chase Brown touchdown and an extra point kick.
The Jets scored again on a 27-yard Hall rush with 7:52 to play to pull within 38-30 before the point after.
They went for 2 again. If it works down 8, you get within 6 and can win on a touchdown and extra point the next score. And if it doesn't work, you're still down by just a TD and 2.
It worked, again, as Fields extended the play and found Isaiah Davis for a diving catch that just cleared the goal line.
Down 38-32 with 7:52 left, the Jets were the only team to score again.
They did it in trick play fashion, a 4-yard pass from RB Hall to Mason Taylor with 1:54 left. This time, they only needed the Nick Folk extra point to go up 39-38, and that was the final.
Glenn had nothing to lose, really. Well, except for his job.
But he took a couple chances, that many analytics services would back, and they paid off. It was pretty cool to watch.
