Why Dak Prescott isn't playing as Cowboys put Joe Milton at QB

Dak Prescott isn't on the field to close out Week 8.

Instead, the Dallas Cowboys have Joe Milton in at quarterback.

Milton was acquired in the offseason in a trade from the New England Patriots. He replaced Cooper Rush as the Cowboys' QB2.

And on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, Milton got into the game.

Why is Dak Prescott out and Joe Milton in?

The Cowboys pulled Prescott with about seven minutes left because they were down 44-17 to the Broncos.

Prescott wasn't hurt. He was just benched for the remaining time in order to keep him healthy for the games ahead.

There's no QB controversy here.

Milton got the chance to show what he could do in a regular season game.

And on Milton's first drive, he threw a 35-yard touchdown over the top to Jalen Tolbert.

There has never been a question about Milton's arm strength. If he ever starts, his consistency will be more in question.

But on the TD pass to Tolbert, Milton showed how special his arm is. It might be limited action for him from here on out, but he made a good impression in this one.
