Over the years the Minnesota Vikings have made a habit of being in the headlines off the field for all the wrong reasons. After a two-week swing to Europe, they avoided any problems this time (although Jordan Addison earned himself a punishment for antics in London).
This weekend the Vikings are one something of a mini bye week after playing against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football. It wasn’t someone on their active roster thankfully, but Adrian Peterson found himself in trouble with the law again.
Adrian Peterson doesn’t learn from first DWI
We are just seven months from the NFL Draft. If you recall, Adrian Peterson was in town for the Minnesota Vikings draft party that night and earned himself negative publicity after a DWI arrest. Apparently that poor decision wasn’t enough as he’s repeated the choice again.
Adrian Peterson has been arrested after allegedly driving while under the influence…TMZ has learned. According to online records, Peterson was arrested in Sugar Land, Texas around 10 AM local time Sunday. He was booked on one charge of DWI and one charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon.

When arrested earlier this year in Minnesota, Peterson blew a .14% with the legal-limit sitting at .08%. It has not yet been reported how egregious the infraction was this time. Unlawful carrying of a weapon is a new charge for Peterson, but certainly nothing to be messing around with while intoxicated as well.
Peterson last appeared in the NFL during the 2021 season with the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks. He has struggled to avoid a negative spotlight in the years since. He also was the subject of a poker game gone wrong, albeit not to the extent of Chauncey Billups.
The Vikings employed Peterson for a decade after making him the seventh overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. He logged nearly 12,000 yards in purple and finished with 14,918 yards for his career. The four-time All-Pro and 2012 MVP has struggled to generate the same excellence as a human being that he did on the football field.
Minnesota has dealt with enough DWI problems in recent seasons. Jordan Addison finished a three-game suspension for his “wet reckless” plea stemming from last summer. Khyree Jackson was killed by a drunk driver before he ever stepped on the field for the Vikings.
