If there has been something constant in Minnesota sports of late, it’s that we certainly can’t have nice things. That sentiment found a way to permeate the Minnesota Timberwolves exciting return of the trees.
Chris Finch had his team back at Target Center to kick off the home schedule. After a blowout loss to the Lakers, they found themselves in a good rebound spot facing a severely undermanned Pacers teams.
That was until Anthony Edwards exited after three minutes.
Anthony Edwards out with injury for Timberwolves
Coming into the season it was uncertain as to whether Anthony Edwards would be on the court out of the gate. He had been questionable due to back spasms before the opener against Portland. Out on the court early ahead of the Timberwolves home opener, he spent more time preparing for the game than playing in it.
Wolves call it right hamstring tightness for Anthony Edwards. I noticed him grab at it once or twice in LA, but he played through.

Edwards started and dropped five points on 2-of-5 shooting prior to exiting the matchup. A sore hamstring is never a good thing, and it getting worse from Friday night is a problem as well. After heading to the locker room, Edwards returned to the bench wearing street clothes.
Through the first two games of the year Edwards averaged 36 points in 37 minutes per game. Against Portland it was the Anthony Edwards show as he put up 41 in a 118-114 victory. He scored just 31 in the blowout against Los Angeles.

Minnesota will play a back-to-back on Monday night with the Denver Nuggets in town immediately after Indiana leaves. The Timberwolves won’t be 12.5-point favorites against the Nuggets, and their ability to win certainly will be impacted by the availability of Edwards.
The Timberwolves are also at home for a rematch with Los Angeles on Wednesday before starting another road trip on Saturday.
Chris Finch’s rotation would take a hit without Edwards. Bones Hyland stepped in on Sunday night as Rob Dillingham is also out with a broken nose.
