Two weeks ago, the New York Giants beat the Philadelphia Eagles 34-17. The Eagles had 73 rushing yards, and Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts, while passing for 283 yards and one touchdown, had his only interception of the season.
In Sunday’s rematch, the Eagles ran for 276 yards and Hurts threw four TD passes as Philadelphia defeated the Giants 38-20.
Eagles running back Saquon Barkley sprinted 65 yards for a touchdown on the second snap to set the tone for the game. Barkley had 150 yards on 14 carries plus four receptions for 24 yards and another touchdown before leaving with a groin injury on Sunday.
His backup, former Auburn standout Tank Bigsby, ran for 104 yards on nine carries as Philadelphia averaged 8.4 yards per rushing attempt.
“Man, those guys up front, they played their tails off,” Hurts said. “Really, really, really good in the combo blocks and getting movement in the run game. And then Saquon being Saquon, when he had those opportunities, he made the most of them and took advantage of them. Tank coming in and running as hard as he did. …
“When you’re able to run the ball efficiently like that, it kind of gives you a flow a bit. And so, proud of how we were able to run the ball, and I’m proud of how we were able to make plays and win in the red zone and take advantage of those opportunities there, too.”

Hurts produced his third NFL game with four touchdown passes, and all three have come in the eighth week of the season. The former Alabama QB also had four in a 35-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 30, 2022, and a 38-31 victory over the Washington Commanders on Oct. 29, 2023.
Hurts’ touchdown passes went 9 yards to Barkley with 11:38 left in the first half to break a 7-7 tie, 6 yards to tight end Dallas Goedert as the Eagles went ahead 21-10 with 21 seconds left in the first half, 17 yards to Goedert for a 31-13 lead with 11:17 left to play and 40 yards to wide receiver Jahan Dotson for a 38-13 lead with 5:59 remaining.
Hurts completed 15-of-20 passes for 179 yards with no interceptions. After posting a passing-efficiency rating of 158.3 – the highest possible in the NFL – in last week’s 28-22 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, Hurts had a 141.5 rating on Sunday, the second-best of his career, even though three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown didn’t play because of a hamstring injury.
“I definitely got a lot of work to do,” Hurts said. “I think the best is yet to come.”
Hurts also had 22 yards of Philadelphia’s rushing total on four carries.
In addition to a season-high points output, the Eagles offense produced a 2025-high 427 yards against the Giants.
“We’re always in this process of becoming,” Hurts said. “It’s the reality of it. The goal is to be playing your best ball at the end of the season, and there’s a process that you have to go through to get that. They’re going to be tests along the way, but you have to embrace those challenges as they come, and I think we do that as a group. And so there’s a focus to do that, and you saw a lot of guys make big-time plays today and step up in different roles that they traditionally are not asked to do.”
At 6-2, the Eagles don’t play again until Nov. 10. After its Week 9 bye, Philadelphia plays the Green Bay Packers at 7:15 p.m. CST Nov. 10 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. ABC and ESPN will televise the Monday night contest.
“Obviously, a big time for us is always going into the bye week,” Hurts said, “and being able to assess that and have a reset a bit and build forward.”
