Bucs Outpacing Legendary Teams Of Franchise’s Past
October 26th, 2025
Historic season coming?
Holy smokes, Joe’s eyes damn near bugged out of his head when researching this.
The Bucs are now 6-2. Joe might have to find a place open late on a Sunday night in the French Quarter to have a cocktail. Pretty sure such a watering hole exists there, right?
If any Bucs fan was told back in August the Bucs would only have two losses at the bye, the halfway point of the season, folks would have accused Joe of being drunk.
No one dreamed that. Well, maybe they did. But here the Bucs are, 6-2 and way ahead in the NFC South race with a two-game lead over the Stinking Panthers.
The Dixie Chicks? Ah… hahahahahha.
Anyway, Joe did some research.
The 1999 Bucs that went to the NFC title game were 2-3 entering their bye week.
In 2002, when Chucky came aboard and the Bucs eventually won the Super Bowl, the Bucs were 7-2 at the bye.
In 2020, the Bucs, then coached by Bucco Bruce Arians, were 7-5 at their bye.
The 1979 Bucs that went to the NFC title game did not have a bye week but did have a bye week in the playoffs as a result of winning the old NFC Central.
Should be a fun next couple of months.
