Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott was in tears after being carted off with a knee injury against the Green Bay Packers and ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Elliott stayed down after Packers tight end Tucker Kraft landed awkwardly on his knee, following a 59-yard gain. It was a freak play after quarterback Jordan Love tossed a hopeful pass, as he faced former mentor Aaron Rodgers for the first time in his NFL career.

Rodgers, who spent 18 years with the Packers, was attempting to beat Green Bay and become the fifth player in NFL history to beat all 32 franchises. However, the loss of Elliott impacted Pittsburgh, and the extent of his injury is unknown.

Elliott's knee appeared to bend the wrong way after Kraft fell onto his stretched leg, as the safety attempted to stop the gain. Elliott was instantly in pain and needed assistance before he was carted to the locker room for evaluation.

The Steelers ruled Elliott out extremely quickly, but NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark claimed that he was distressed. Stark reported that Elliott was in tears and placed his head in his hands when heading to the locker room.

While it was a significant blow to Elliott and the Steelers, it was just one play in an evening of highlights for Kraft. On 'National Tight End Day,' the Packers' No. 85 scored two touchdowns and had 143 receiving yards from seven receptions.

It was also a statement performance from Packers quarterback Jordan Love, who is in the second year of his four-year, $220 million contract extension. Love was drafted by Green Bay in 2020, but sat behind Rodgers until the veteran left for the New York Jets in 2023.

Love was 26-for-31 passing for 317 yards and three touchdowns. Rodgers has a lot of respect for Love from their time together in Green Bay, but he was chasing NFL history on Sunday.

Rodgers is one of seven quarterbacks in NFL history with wins against 31 franchises, but needs a win over the Packers to beat all 32 teams. Only Brett Favre, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning have accomplished that.
