Six games into the 2025 NFL season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have a respectable 4-2 record, but the team's offense isn't performing at the level many expected when they signed four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason.
Pittsburgh ranks in the bottom-third of the league in yards per game (25th, 297.5) and 19th in passing (203 yards per game).
Rodgers has been solid, passing for 1,270 yards, 14 touchdowns, and five interceptions with a 105.0 passer rating, but the team clearly needs to find him some help at wide receiver.
Aside from Pro Bowler DK Metcalf, who leads the team with 22 catches, 36 targets, 406 yards, and four touchdowns, no other Steelers WR has more than 10 receptions or 139 yards.

Pittsburgh's second- and third-leading receivers are tight end Pat Friermuth (13 receptions, 187 yards, two TDs) and running back Jaylen Warren (17 receptions, 184 yards, one TD), which is why multiple reports indicate the Steelers have been scouring the trade market to find another pass-catcher to complement Metcalf.
While no trade has been announced, the Steelers could soon be adding a veteran wideout that has a history with Rodgers, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
"The #Steelers are scheduled to workout veteran WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Monday," Schultz wrote on X. "Signing MVS would reunite him with Aaron Rodgers."

Valdes-Scantling began the season with the San Francisco 49ers. He totaled four catches on eight targets for 40 yards in five games before being released a few weeks ago.
The 31-year-old WR spent four seasons playing with Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers from 2018 to 2021. The duo connected for 123 catches, 2,153 yards, and 13 touchdowns.
Valdes-Scantling was one of Rodgers' favorite downfield targets; he averaged 17.5 yards per reception during his four-year tenure.
