Gabe Vincent in walking boot after leaving Kings games with ankle sprain

Vincent would be ruled out of the game, but head coach JJ Redick did not have an update on his status postgame. Unfortunately, the more informal update that was available was not an encouraging one as the guard was in a walking boot postgame.

Walking boots are not indicative of any specific type of injury, necessarily. It could simply be a precautionary measure the team took before heading back to Los Angeles for the night and further testing on Monday.

At the same time, if he’s wearing a walking boot, that does mean the sprain is at a certain level that isn’t great. It feels safe to assume that, at the very least, he won’t play on Monday, and his availability the rest of the week is up in the air.

In that case, the Lakers will be seriously shorthanded. By the end of the game on Sunday, the team was down to eight standard contract players and saw two-way guard Chris Mañon make his season debut. On Monday, it’s likely either him, Nick Smith Jr. or Bronny James will be called upon to take Vincent’s minutes.

While Sunday’s win was a memorable one, the reality of the team’s injury situation may quickly catch up with them.
