Former Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has yet to secure a new club this season. He left Elland Road towards the end of the summer transfer window when the club decided to terminate his contract through a mutual agreement.
Bamford was unhappy at the way Leeds handled his exit in the summer. He was left out of the club’s first-team squad during pre-season and was made to train with the Under-21s.

Daniel Farke made it clear that the veteran striker was not part of his plans for the Premier League, but it took almost the entire window to find a solution for his departure. Eventually, Leeds decided to pay him off and let the striker leave on a free transfer.
However, Bamford has yet to find a new club despite attracting interest from teams in the Championship, Spain and the MLS over the last few months.
Coventry City will not sign him
Bamford’s future came under the scanner again last week when it emerged that he was training with the Coventry City squad under Frank Lampard.
They sit at the top of the Championship table and are massive contenders to get promoted to the Premier League this season.
Bamford’s Championship experience was touted as a reason the club could be interested in signing the former Leeds striker on a free transfer.
However, according to the Coventry Telegraph, the club are not interested in getting their hands on the striker at the moment.
Lampard knew him from their time together at Chelsea, and is allowing him to train with his squad to keep himself fit as he looks for a new club.
The Coventry City boss also clarified the situation and indicated that it is nothing more than lending a helping hand to Bamford.
He said: “Doing him a favour. I know Patrick well; he hasn’t got a club. He’s training with us.
“I’m very happy, he’s a good lad, Patrick. He’s very easy. I know the conclusions everyone’s going to get to, but he’s just training.”
Bamford has had a few disappointments since leaving Leeds
The former Leeds striker was close to joining La Liga club Getafe, and his representatives were in talks with the Spanish outfit over a move.
Getafe were keen to sign Bamford on a free transfer. However, the move was called off as manager Jose Bordalas was strictly against signing the former Leeds striker.
The former Leeds man was keen to start a new life in Spain and play a different brand of football. However, Bordalas blocked Getafe from signing him.
Bamford still has a few suitors in the Championship and the MLS. However, his recent injury record is a major hurdle for him to find a new club.
He was unavailable for a staggering 26 games for Leeds in the last two seasons due to several fitness issues.
Bamford has not missed fewer than five games in a season due to injuries since he suffered a serious knee injury in the 2018/19 season.
Farke suffered last season and did not have enough faith in the striker to remain fit this year to make him a part of his plans for the Premier League.
His fitness concerns are also stopping clubs from trying to sign him, and he may have to agree to sign a highly incentivised deal to find a new home this season.
