Aston Villa’s Emiliano Buendía has been part of Unai Emery’s plans since returning to Villa Park from his loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
The attacking midfielder has played 12 matches for Aston Villa this season, scoring three goals and contributing two assists.
At the weekend, Aston Villa secured a 1-0 victory over Manchester City and the Argentina international assisted Matty Cash’s winner.
Buendía was forced off the pitch in the 29th minute and was replaced by Jadon Sancho. He had to be replaced due to a discomfort in his left leg and TyC Sports report the latest on the 28-year-old’s situation.
The Villans haven’t provided an update on his injury yet. TyC Sport state he’s expected to be ‘sidelined for a few weeks’, suggesting that the player has already carried out initial tests. Either way, his setback is a concern for Unai Emery’s side.
Another Argentine outlet, MDZ Online, report the South American left the stadium on crutches. He’s waiting to carry out further medical examinations to find out the extent of the damage.
In August 2023, Buendía suffered a serious knee injury, forcing him to spend close to a year on the sidelines. The Aston Villa player remains hopeful the latest setback won’t keep him out for long.
