The Green Bay Packers finally activated wide receiver Christian Watson after his long recovery period from a knee injury. Against Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, Watson managed to make a positive impact on the Packers’ Jordan Love-led passing attack.
Green Bay ended up on top of the Steelers, 35-25, a nice welcome for Watson, who suffered a torn ACL injury during the Packers’ final game of the 2024 NFL regular season.

“Honestly, I tried to make it as normal of a game day as possible for myself. I woke up, got breakfast, went to meetings, you know, played some video games, that’s like my little routine,” Watson said during a postgame talk with reporters in the locker room (h/t Ryan Wood of USA TODAY).
That being said, Watson said that there was still a point during his preparation for the contest that the reality of him finally about to partake in an NFL game again hit him.
“I got to play a game at least one before I play. I’d say, you know, when I was getting ready to pack my bag and go downstairs, it was kind of when it started to hit me that this was the long road that I was on, and it meant a lot for me to get there,” Watson continued.
“So, I mean, I say that, but honestly, it felt like a pretty routine game day, honestly, for everything that happened and everything that I went through in the past nine months, it really felt like a pretty normal game day for me. So, I’m honestly grateful for that.”
Although the evening belonged to tight end Tucker Kraft, who had an incredible performance, Watson wasn’t too shabby either, especially for someone who was on the shelf for several months.
Watson finished with 85 receiving yards — more than any player in the game outside of Kraft — to go with 85 receiving yards on four catches and four targets.
