Daniel Farke says former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is always at hand to offer advice and answer questions as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull.
Red Bull holds a minority stake in Leeds United, thought to be around 10%, and is its front of shirt sponsor - an agreement that was the biggest in Championship history and inflated upon promotion to the Premier League.
Some supporters are uneasy with the company’s presence at Elland Road given its ventures at other clubs, which has seen Red Bull or ‘RB’ planted in the team name - most recently, rugby union side Newcastle Red Bulls - or stadium name.
Neither idea is being considered by the 49ers, a source told Leeds Live earlier this year, who also underlined that the present owners are very aware of the historical heritage assets the club boasts within the domestic game.
Klopp started his role at Red Bull in January, with the German’s mission being to advise strategy, support scouting and contribute to the development of players and coaches within the Red Bull empire.
Leeds do not count towards this portfolio, but as partners, chiefs are able to reach out to senior figures for advice on particular matters, albeit the final decision always rests with the 49ers. Speaking to German podcast Spielmacher, Farke explained how Red Bull fits into his sphere of work.
“Leeds isn’t a typical Red Bull club that’s been taken over and where the RB philosophy is enforced,” he underlined.

Leeds United have slashed up to 50% off select kits and merch on their official club store, including this season's home shirt.
“Red Bull is a strategic investor. You can maybe compare it in Germany to Adidas at Bayern Munich or an automotive partner.
“We’re glad to have such a strong partner, a good network, and even if questions arise, there are channels – but Leeds United are structured differently and remain an independent club.”
It is not uncommon for rival managers to contact one another about various matters and Farke hinted that this had been the same between him and Klopp when he was Liverpool boss. Farke added: “With Jurgen, you know that as a coach at that level, there’s little time to philosophise about such things.
“So for me, if I have a question, request, or need advice, he’s available 24/7 – and he still is. The only difference now is that you can count it as working hours. Otherwise, nothing has changed in that relationship.”
