Serie A giants Juventus will reportedly look to sign 22-year-old French international Malo Gusto from Chelsea next year.
According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Calciomercato, Malo Gusto is the subject of interest from Juventus. The Serie A giants are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a right-back heading into the winter transfer window. So, the 22-year-old Chelsea wide player has emerged as a target for the Bianconeri.
Malo Gusto and his career so far
Malo Gusto has established himself as an asset for Chelsea since arriving from Lyon over two years ago. A native of Decines-Charpieu, the Frenchman spent most of his formative years in his homeland, passing through the academies at AS Villefontaine and FC Bourgoin-Jallieu before graduating from the youth division at Olympique Lyonnais.
Chelsea signed Gusto from Lyon in January 2023. However, the 2003-born full-back had to wait until the onset of the 2023/24 season to make his senior bow for the West London club, as he spent the second half of the 2022/23 campaign with the Ligue 1 club. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old defender’s progress at Chelsea has helped him break into his national squad.
Gusto has made nearly 100 appearances thus far for Chelsea while chipping in with 14 assists. Meanwhile, the French full-back’s exploits for his club and country have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Juventus will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the winter transfer window.
Serie A move on the horizon?
Juventus’s interest in Malo Gusto is understandable. The Serie A giants are scouring the market for a full-back heading into the summer transfer window, as Igor Tudor wants a new right-back to reinforce his first-team squad in the coming weeks.
Several candidates, including Nahuel Molina, have thus emerged on the Serie A club’s radar, with Gusto also a viable target. However, the 22-year-old Frenchman is not the only Chelsea defender on Juventus’s wishlist, with the Bianconeri also keen on signing out-of-favour French centre-back Axel Disasi.
As for the interest in Gusto, it is unclear if Chelsea will be open to cashing in on the former Lyon wonderkid in the winter transfer window. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 2003-born French full-back.
